Classification of lifting hooks
Lifting hooks are widely used in lifting machinery. According to the manufacturing method, hooks can be divided into forged hooks and chip hooks. Forged hooks can be divided into single hooks and double hooks. Single hooks are generally used for small lifting capacities, while double hooks are mostly used for larger lifting capacities. Chip hooks are also divided into single hooks and double hooks.
The forged hook is a whole forged product. The straight part above is called the hook neck, and the top of the hook neck is processed with threads, which are used for assembling hook beams, thrust bearings, hook nuts and other items. The lower curved part is called the body. The cross section of the fishing body is rounded, with the big end of the trapezoid inside and the small end outside. This cross-sectional shape can increase the pressure area of the hook, and can also make the inner and outer edges of the cross-section nearly equal in strength, so that the structural materials can be fully utilized.
When the hook is working, it is often affected by impact load interception, so the material of the hook must not only have sufficient strength, but also have good toughness. The forged hook material is made of high-quality low-carbon killed steel or low-carbon alloy steel, such as 20 high-quality low-carbon steel, 16Mn, 20MnSi, 36MnSi, and is annealed after forging.
Single hook: It is a commonly used hook with simple structure and convenient use. The material is generally forged from 20# high-quality carbon steel or 20Mn, and the maximum lifting capacity is not more than 80 tons.
Double hooks: Double hooks are often used when the lifting capacity is large, and the force is even and symmetrical. The material is generally forged from 20# high-quality carbon steel or 20Mn. Lifting equipment larger than 80 tons usually uses double hooks.
Chip type hook: It is punched and cut into hook pieces from several 16Mn steel plates with a thickness of not less than 20mm. Then riveted with rivets. When unloading, the height direction of the plate hook should be consistent with the rolling direction of the steel plate, which can improve the strength of the hook.
In order to evenly distribute the load to each hook piece and reduce the wear of the wire rope, removable pads are provided at the hook mouth.
Chip-type hooks: Compared with forged hooks, the advantages of chip hooks are: simple manufacturing, especially for hooks with large sizes, and high work safety and reliability, because the hook plates cannot break at the same time, and individual plates can be replaced if they are damaged. The shortcomings are: the sheet hook can only be made into a rectangular cross-section, so that the structural materials cannot be fully utilized, the weight is large, and the height is large.
