Certification training and assessment standards for crane hooks

2025-07-29 07:00:37

To ensure that hook operators and maintenance personnel have professional capabilities, they must follow the following training, assessment and certification standards in accordance with national laws and regulations (such as GB/T 10051, TSG Q7015) and industry specifications.

1. Training Content

1. Theoretical training

✅Basic  knowledge

  • Hook types (single hook, double hook, swivel hook) and applicable scenarios

  • Material properties (such as strength and toughness of DG20Mn steel)

  • Rated load (SWL) and safety factor (≥4 times)

✅Safety  regulations

  • GB/T 10051 (Technical requirements for hooks)

  • TSG Q7015 (Technical regulations for safety of lifting machinery)

  • Mandatory requirements for anti-unhooking devices (tongue, spring standards)

✅Failure  modes and prevention

  • Identification and treatment of common failures (cracks, deformation, wear)

  • Scrap standard (opening > 10%, wear > 5%)

✅Maintenance  skills

  • Lubrication cycle and method (bearing grease injection every 500 hours)

  • Anti-rust treatment (galvanizing, coating options)

2. Practical training

1. Daily inspection drills

  • Measuring the opening with a caliper

  • Detection of hidden cracks with magnetic particle flaw detector

  • Anti-unhooking device function test

2. Emergency treatment

  • Immediate decommissioning process when cracks are detected

  • Emergency response after overload alarm

3. Assessment criteria

1. Theoretical examination (written test/computer-based test)

  • Full score is 100, 80 points is a pass

  • Question types: Multiple choice (40%), True or False (30%), Short answer (30%)
    Sample questions:

Q: When the dangerous section of the hook is worn beyond what level, it must be scrapped?
    A. 3% B. 5% C. 10% (Correct answer: B)

2. Practical assessment

  • project :

    1. Use the caliper correctly to measure the hook opening (error ≤ 1mm).

    2. Identify simulated cracks (magnetic particle inspection or visual inspection).

    3. Complete the bearing lubrication operation (grease injection quantity control).

  • Scoring : 100 points for each operation, and a total score of ≥80 points is considered a pass.

3. Comprehensive evaluation

  • There is no record of illegal operation (such as overloading, unauthorized modification).

  • Pass emergency tests simulating accident scenarios .

IV. Certification and Review

1. Certificate issuance

  • After passing the assessment, the Market Supervision and Administration Bureau or authorized agency will issue a "Lifting Machinery Operator Certificate" (special for hooks).

  • The certificate is valid for 4 years and is valid nationwide.

2. Review Request

  • Refresher training every 2 years (8 hours, including the latest regulatory updates).

  • Reassessment every 4 years (theory + practical).

V. Training Qualification Requirements

  • Training institution : must have special equipment operator training qualification (TSG Z6001).

  • Lecturer Qualifications :

    • More than 5 years of experience in lifting machinery.

    • Hold a "Special Equipment Safety Manager Certificate".
