The importance of hook maintenance

The hook is a sling on the crane. When lifting an object, it mainly hooks the load-bearing rope of the object. When starting, it hangs the object to make the object reach the desired height. If it only looks like this, the operation seems quite simple, but this is on the premise that there is no problem with the hook and other components. If there is any problem with the hook or any part that matches the hook, the consequence may be that an object falls when hung high. It is unimaginable how dangerous it will be. Therefore, the hook must be inspected regularly to ensure the safety of the work.

  How to repair hooks:

  (1) Clean the hook body with kerosene, dry it and check it comprehensively with a magnifying glass. If cracks are found, repair welding is not allowed and should be replaced immediately.

  (2) Check the parts of the pull plate, cross beam and other parts. When the pull plate holes are severely worn, you can use high-quality welding rods to re-weld them. If you replace the new parts, it is necessary to ensure that the mechanical properties of the material meet the requirements.

  (3) For hooks that have been used for a certain period of time, due to the effect of the wire rope, the surface of the hook is often hardened. For this reason, the hook is annealed once a year. The forged hook of No. 20 steel has an annealing temperature of 500-600℃, and it cools slowly after being suppressed to ensure that its mechanical properties remain unchanged.
